Frederick Cecil Garrett 1910 - 2004 Mr. F. Cecil Garrett, 93, of Parklands Estates, Riverview, formerly of Westmount Blvd. Moncton, passed away at The Moncton City Hospital on August 31, 2004. Born on September 22, 1910, he was the son of the late Maud Gracie and George Arthur Garrett of Pembroke, Ontario. A career banker, Cecil worked for the Bank of Montreal from 1929 until retirement in 1973. He joined the bank in Cornwall, ON and was posted to the Maritimes at the same time that he married Margaret Laschinger in 1940. They lived and worked in Mahone Bay, NS, Moncton NB, Chatham, NB, Halifax, NS, Truro, NS and Shediac, NB before moving to Lachine, PQ in 1963. In 1999 they moved back to Moncton. Cecil was an avid jogger, continuing four-mile runs into his nineties. He was a member of Mount Royal United Church. Cecil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (nee Laschinger); his two daughters, Ann Piech (Ken) of Buffalo, N.Y., Mary Taylor (Richard) of Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, Garrett Piech (Julie Fromer) of Horseheads, N.Y., Marjorie Piech, Buffalo, N.Y., and Chris Taylor, Moncton, N.B., and one great-grandchild, Evelyn Piech, Horseheads, N.Y. He is also survived by two sisters, Edythe Price (Red) of Brantford, ON, and Helen Garrett, Toronto, ON, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Belfield and sister, Lillian O'Connor. The family thanks Dr. P. Smith and Dr. L. Whitmore and all the staff of 5200 for their exceptional care and kindness. At Cecil's request, there will be no visitation and internment of his ashes will take place privately at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, the Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or to the charity of ones choice.
