Edward W. Wallace, 85, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Beaumont Nursing Home. His wife, Ethel M.B. (Spencer) Wallace, died in 1987. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lash and her husband, John, of Franklin, and Carol Liberto and her husband, Richard, of Whitinsvile; a brother, Thomas Wallace of Douglas; six grandchildren, Holly, John and Jarrod Lash, and Jennifer, Benjamin and Nicholas Liberto; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Newell and Harold; and sisters, Annie and Helen. Mr. Wallace was born in Whitinsville, on Dec. 20, 1925, a son of Thomas and Annie (Hamilton) Wallace. He lived in Whitinsville and Milford for most of his life. A decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of Northbridge High School. He was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church in Whitinsville, and belonged to the John and Richard Moran Post, VFW, there. He was a member of Solomon's Temple, AF&AM, and Aleppo Temple. Mr. Wallace was a bridge inspector for the Massachusetts Highway Department for 25 years, prior to retiring in 1987. Previously, he worked at the Whitin Machine Works. Mr. Wallace's funeral will be held Monday, July 25, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, Linwood Avenue, Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, July 24, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Carr Funeral Home (www.carrfuneralhome.com), 24 Hill St., Whitinsville. Please omit flowers.
