MACPHERSON Donald (Don) Robert 1917 - 2006 Don Macpherson, beloved husband of Margaret Macpherson of Calgary, passed away in the company of his family on Monday, October 2, 2006, at the age of 88 years. Don was born in Calgary on November 14, 1917, and was raised on the family farm in Delia, Alberta. He attended Olds Agricultural College and the University of Alberta where he obtained his B.Sc in Agriculture. Don taught at Vermilion, Olds and Fairview Agricultural Colleges before becoming a District Agriculturist in Hanna, High River, Calgary and Airdrie. It was at Vermilion College that he met the love of his life, Margaret Brown. They married in 1948 and raised four children. Don retired in 1981 to devote his time to gardening and his growing family of grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy. Don was unfailingly generous to all - family, friends, and charitable organizations. He donated countless hours to many organizations over the years including, Boy Scouts, Masons, O.E.S., Agricultural Boards, and Meals on Wheels. He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, ready smile, amazing memory, tremendous knowledge and remarkable patience. Besides his wife of fifty-eight years, Don is lovingly remembered by two sons and daughters-in-law: Bob and Sylvia of Grande Prairie, Bill and Karen of Calgary; two daughters and sons-in-law: Marg and John Bertrand of Edmonton, Janet and John Mitchell of Saanichton, BC; twelve grandchildren: Shannon and her husband Clayton MacGillivray, Heather and Andrew Macpherson; Jeannie, Robyn and Danny Bertrand; Matthew, Jaime (Chris), Claire and her husband Steve Neuman, and Stephen Macpherson; Caleigh and Alex Mitchell. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law: Ken of Delia, and Allan and Mildred of Calgary. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. George LeDrew of St. David's United Church and the Rev. John Moules of the United Church of Canada, Presiders. A Graveside Service will be held at the Delia Cemetery at a later date.
