Chester T. Kirby of Quincy passed away April 28, 2011. Beloved husband of Margaret Peggy (Lavers) Kirby of Quincy, he was the loving father of Chester T. Kirby Jr. of and his wife Mary Ellen of Marshfield, Anne-Marie Bridges and her husband John of West Yarmouth, Noreen F. Kirby and her partner Judy Nevins of Easton and Timothy P. Kirby of Quincy; brother of Eileen Walsh of Weymouth, Daniel Kirby of Florida and the late James Kirby. Chester is also survived by eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was the uncle to many nieces and nephews. Chester was born in Boston and grew up in Roxbury. He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Chester worked as a construction inspector for Boston Edison for 40 years before retiring in 1988. After retiring, Chester worked as a self-employed electrician. He was a member of the Quincy Lodge of Elks, the Nickerson Post in Squantum and a member of the Commodores Club of America. He was past Commodore of Old Colony Yacht Club in Dorchester. Chester had an easy going personality and enjoyed spending time with his family and boating. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Saturday 1-3 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.
