of Fitchburg, active at Elm St. Church; 88 FITCHBURG -- Bernard J. Kelley, 88, of Fitchburg, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Leominster Hospital, after an illness.He was born November 22, 1921 in Fitchburg, the son of Edward and Hilda (Forsberg) Kelley. He worked as a beater for Fitchburg Paper for 35 years, and part time at Kelley wood products for 14 years.Mr. Kelley was enlisted in the U.S. Army in WWII as a Military Policeman, and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Victory medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.Mr. Kelley was an attending and choir member of The Elm St. Congregational Church, and president of the church's Men's Club. He was also part of the Church's camp committee.He was an avid Fitchburg H.S. football fan since grammar school. He loved fishing, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all he loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.He leaves his wife, Evelyn E. Sakko of 67 years; his daughter, Jeannie Laramie and her husband, Albert "Al" of Fitchburg; three grandsons, Mark Laramie and his wife, Amy of NC, Peter Laramie and his wife, Aprille, and Scott Laramie, all of Fitchburg; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was predeceased by his three brothers, Robert and Edward Kelley, and Carl Bock, and his sister, Gert-rude Blake.KELLEY -- The funeral will be held Monday, Jan-uary 18, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Elm Street Congregational Church, 264 Elm St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours are Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg.
