WIGINTON, Beatrice Alexia (Alix)(nee Howie) October 24, 1919 - December 29, 2016Our mother passed peacefully after fighting valiantly since October to recover from a broken hip. Mom was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Vancouver in 1931 with her sister Dorothy and her mother after which she lived in Kerrisdale for most of her life. Mom was predeceased by her husband James Caldwell in 1960, her husband Edward Wiginton in 1972, and her daughter Sandra Hamblin and nephew James Gaskill, both in 2011. She is survived by her daughter Alexia Akhurst (Bruce); her son Howie Caldwell (Florence); her son-in-law Paul Hamblin; her grandchildren Murray (Tiiu), Angus (DJ), Erin, James, Katharine (AJ), Andrew, Graham (Colleen), Ryan and Christie; eight great-grandchildren; the Gaskill family, the ''Wongclan'', as well as family in Scotland and around the world. Mom loved her family and friends and was dearly loved in return. A funeral service will take place at St. Faith''s Anglican Church, 7284 Cypress Street, Vancouver, BC on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. Our family thanks all those who helped care for Mom since October. She appreciated everything that was done for her.
