Anthony Paul "Tony" LaPlante -- December 7, 1961 -- February 23, 2005 SOUTHWEST HARBOR, ME -- Anthony LaPlante, 43, a good and generous man died of complications of strokes and diabetes on February 23, 2005 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born December 7, 1961 in Putnam, CT., the son of Joseph A. and Estelle (Poitras) LaPlante.He grew up in Danielson, CT and attended school there. He was a volunteer fireman for 15 years and a member of Capt. Put Engine Company. Before moving to Maine with his daughter in 1995, he was employed by Staples. Even though a stroke in April 2004 left him completely blind, he was still goodnatured and accepted his condition.Tony enjoyed going to Seawall, playing cards, having company and socializing with his parish family of Saint Peters Catholic Church in Manset where he was a parishioner.Besides his parents, with whom he made his home, he is survived by his daughter, Debra Lynn, whom he loved very much his sister Theresa Whittier and her husband William of Scarborough, ME; his brother Michael J. LaPlante and his fiancee Tammy Grant of Dayville, CT; his sister Suzanne Bouthillier and her husband Danny of Danielson, CT; his sister Elizabeth Tavernier and her husband Bruce of Ballouville, CT., nine nieces and nephews, a large extended family and a good friend, Maureen.At his request there will be no calling hours.There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint James Church, Danielson, CT, on Saturday March 5, 2005 at 9:30 a.m.Donations in his memory may be made to Southwest HarborTremont Ambulance in Southwest Harbor or the The American Diabetes Association.
