van den BRINK, Anne Marie It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Anne Marie van den Brink, on March 2, 2008, in the presence of her loving daughters. Anne was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1993. She will always be loved and remembered by her daughters, Valerie (Wes) Witherspoon and Sandra van den Brink (Randy Bradshaw) and her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Carolyn Witherspoon and Trevor and Carson Dunn. She also leaves a sister, Margaret Jousma of Voorburg as well as family and friends in The Netherlands, Australia and Canada. She was born in The Hague, Netherlands, where she worked as a pharmacist. She endured the Nazi occupation of her country and immediately after the war came to visit Canada. During that visit, she met the man who would become her husband, William (Bill) van den Brink of Brink Bros. Floral. After she returned to the Netherlands, she made plans to immigrate to Canada where she and Bill were married. Anne embodied graciousness and kindness. She was loved by all and "adopted" as mother by many. She had an adventurous, courageous spirit coupled with a sweet, girlish smile. She had a love of travel and she and her husband, Bill, spent many retirement years travelling to the U.S. and Hawaii. While in her eighties Anne worked over 1000 hours as a volunteer at the Rockyview Hospital and was known as the "book lady". Anne was living at the Beverly Care Centre Midnapore at the time of her passing and appreciated the attention and friendship of the many that cared and spent time with her. The family wishes to thank Units 56 and 59 at the Rockyview Hospital for the kindness displayed in caring for her and keeping her comfortable in her final days. A special thank you to Dr. Calder for her exceptional compassion. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to The Ayudamos Foundation of Calgary, through their website at www.ayudamos.ca , a charitable organization that Anne supported and encouraged. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at The Beach Club at McKenzie Lake, 16199 McKenzie Lake Way S.E., on Sunday, March 16 at 1:30 p.m. PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES 7016 Farrell Road S.E.
