Pioneers of the Poissant family

Jacques Poissant-Lasaline was born on July 12, 1661 et was baptized on August 4, 1661 in a protestant temple in Marennes, Charente-Maritime, France. Son of Jacques Poissant, a royal sergeant, and Isabelle Magos, he married Marguerite Bessette, daughter of Jean and Anne Seigneur circa 1699 in Chambly. They had 9 children. Soldier in the Navy Troops, Companie Noyan, he renounced his faith in Pointe-aux-Trembles in 1685, year of his arrival. He settled in Laprairie. In 1714, he his part of group that gave portion of their land to the Jesuits. He died and was buried on August 19, 1734 in Laprairie.
