Recherches inc., operator of this website (the site ), recognizes the confidentiality of information that may be disclosed by its members in registering or making purchases from our Website and we are firmly committed to protecting your privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this website.

Overview

Personal information is the one that is provided to J. T. Recherches, Inc. at member registration, or in changing the content of 'my account', or at a purchase, and does not include the content added in the Family Tree section.

Personal information is not provided to unrelated third parties, except to our payment supplier, our email supplier and in rare cases involving possible violations of our use policies, legal statutes, or other laws. We do collect some data, always with your knowledge and consent, which is used to fulfill orders or to tailor our offers to your needs.

Information passed to our payment supplier is only for payment processing purposes and the organization operating that supplier has a commitment not to use it for any other purpose.

Of note, the content added by a member in the Family Tree section is not part of the personal information within the limitations of this policy and becomes automatically the property of You Folks, who can use it for genealogy purposes.

Demographic information collected through on-site user surveys may be used in aggregate statistical form to attract potential sponsors.

Consent

Unless permitted by law, no personal information is collected, without first obtaining your consent to the collection, use and dissemination of that information. However, we may seek consent to use and disclose personal information after it has been collected in those cases where we wish to use the information for a new or different purpose where you have not already consented to such a use of your personal information.

By providing personal information on this Website, you agree and consent that we may collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this policy. In addition, where appropriate, specific authorizations or consents may be obtained from time to time.

Yes. Your Folks asks for some personal information when you sign-up as a member, or when you make a purchase (for example, buying a subscription). We may ask for similar information at other times, such as when you enter contests or other promotions sponsored by Your Folks and/or our many partners.

When you use your credit card for a payment, you give yourself your credit card number to our payment server: so, Your Folks has no knowledge of that information.

How does Your Folks use my personal information?

Our goal is to provide you with the most personalized, relevant, user-friendly Web experience possible. The primary use of all your personal information is to efficiently provide you with relevant information or services.

Your Folks will also use registration information to let you know about new features or other offers of interest from Your Folks, or to address customer service needs and requests.

Additionally, if you click away from Your Folks to visit the site of any third party advertiser or sponsor, you may be asked for your credit card or other personal information in order to purchase or use products and services offered. Where does Your Folks keep my information?

Currently, Your Folks holds personal information in the province of Quebec, in Canada, where our hosting and storage facilities are located.

Will Your Folks use my information for direct mailings?

Your Folks will send electronic mail to you, for the purpose of informing you of changes or additions to Your Folks, or of any related products and services.

May I refuse to provide personal information to Your Folks?

Visitors may register as Your Folks members by providing only their first and last name, their email address and selecting a username and a password. To get access to the complementary services, they must also give information required for the payment process.

How does Your Folks protect my information?

We do not use your IP address and we do not keep it anywhere.

Cookies and Your Folks

Contrary to popular myth, cookies do not extract private or personal information from your computer’s memory. Their only use by Your Folks is to allow you a continuous workflow during a session with Your Folks. They are destroyed as soon as that session is over.

Contests and Promotions

Your Folks may occasionally run contests or other special promotions in which we ask members or visitors for contact information (like an email address) or demographic information (like a zip code, age, or income level). We use this data to send you promotional material about our company or our partners.
