Your Folks

Use a normal search or an extended one?

When you are in the Advanced search, Your Folks can search in two ways

• Normal search (default), will find all individuals on a phonetic basis; for example, even if you specify "Arseneault",  Your Folks will also find people whose surname is "Arsenau" or"Arseno"
• Extended search, that moreover includes surnames or first names that are "similar" although phonetically different; for example, if you specify "Anne", Your Folks will also find "Anna", "Annette" and "Georgianna".

Only use the extended search as a last resort, i.e. if you can't find the family you are looking for with a normal search . In fact, it can return a list much longer than you would like. On the other hand, if the surname or the first name appearing in the record of the wedding differs from the one you think, an extended search could return the family you are looking for.
