Obituary of William-Gerald York


YORK, William Gerald (Gerry) - Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday, September 1, 2006. The late William York of St. Catharines in his 83rd year. Loving husband of Elsie (Bette); beloved father of Robert York and his wife Barbara, Beth Anne Penny and her husband Bill, Gary Elliotson and his wife Pat, Brian Elliotson and his wife Gaetane, Rosalie Armbrust and husband Peter Robb, Loralee Elliotson and Caroline Caldwell. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Taylor and Pierson York, Graham and Julie Penny, Kathy Sheehan, Penny Wilson, Lisa Elliston, Brian Elliotson Jr., Tammy Solymar, Scott Armbrust and Sheena Kemp and Caitlin Robb and thirteen great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Louise and George York, brothers Clarence, Charles and Andrew and sisters Edith Clendening and Ethel Christie. Gerry was a veteran of WWII, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17, Thorold and a 39 year employee of Domtar Fine Paper. Mr. York's family would like to thank Dr. Candice Buetow for her compassionate care. Friends will be received at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. (905-684-6346) on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17 are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, September 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. Cremation with interment of ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated. 10329748
