BRODIE, William January 31, 1914 - April 26, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Brodie on April 26, 2004. His family was at his side. Bill was born and raised in Edmonton where he trained as a watchmaker and jeweller. After serving in the RCAF during World War II, he started his own business, "Brodie's Jewellery", on 118 Avenue. He took great pride in his work, but his real enjoyment was in the many friends and customers who stopped by for coffee and lively discussions on a daily basis. He retired from work in 1979 but remained very active. An avid outdoorsman and notorious walker, Bill experienced many adventures and misadventures in his impromptu travels. He was a longtime Mason and past master of Dominion Lodge #117 as well as part worthy patron of the Eastern Star. Bill will be greatly missed and always remembered by his cherished wife of 64 years, Mary, sons George (Joanne) of Edmonton, Alex (Jana) of White Rock B.C., Bob (Claire Ann) of Kamloops, B.C., and Scott (Leigh) of Vancouver, B.C., his sister Nessie Buss, six granddaughters and four and a half great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. G. Jeffery, the staff and caregivers at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital, Reverend John Dowds and Morag Broad, for their kindness and sensitivity. A Memorial Service will be held at Dayspring Presbyterian Church at 11445-40 Avenue, Edmonton, at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004, The Reverend John Dowds officiating. No flowers by request. In lieu thereof, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Foster & McGarvey Limited Funeral Directors and Licensed Crematorium - 428-6666. Owned & Operated by the McGarvey Family since 1929.
