Obituary of Verna-Margaret Findlay

BAUDER, Verna Margaret (nee Findlay) Verna Margaret Bauder (nee Findlay), an Alberta pioneer, passed away peacefully on the second floor of the High River Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Verna was born at the High River Hospital on July 8, 1910 to Robert and Jane Findlay of High River. Verna was the youngest of four children and the last surviving grandchild of Robert and Mary Findlay who homesteaded north of High River in 1884. The Heritage Ranching Family Award was presented by Friends of the Bar U Historic Ranch Association in 2004 at the annual Stockmen's Dinner. Verna was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1980. Verna leaves two sons David (Sheila) of Oliver, B.C. and Lindsay (Phyllis) of High River and grandchildren Peter, Helen, Jim and Deborah and great-grandchildren Jared, Josh and Thomas and various nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at SNODGRASS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 301 Macleod Trail, High River on Friday, July 4 at 11:00 a.m., Linda Ormson, Hospital Chaplain, officiating.
