Obituary of Mary Foss

Mary (Ward) Foss, age 83, of Lynn, died Wednesday at a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Leroy E. "Lee" Foss. Born in Lewiston, ME, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Beatrice (Burnham) Ward. She was raised in Maine and had lived in Baltimore, Phoenix, Palm Springs, and Portland, ME, prior to moving to Lynn in 1978. She was a graduate of Monmouth Academy in Maine. Mary and her husband Lee owned and operated LeMar Insurance Agency in Lynn for 25 years until the business closed in 1992. Her focus was always on her family, and she was very supportive of them. She will be remembered as an unselfish person who would rather give to others than take for herself. She was an artist and a painter and she had a talent for knitting, crocheting and embroidering. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Foss-Zampino and her husband Adam of Salem; two grandchildren; Samantha Foss and Sean Chartarand; her sisters; Anne Wallace, Ava Mason and her husband Bob, Barbara Crocker and Beverly Ward, all of Maine, and Janice Chass and her husband Tom of Schenectady, NY; her brother Allan Ward and his wife Chris of Maine, family friends, Arthur Mellen of NH and Denise Rescigno of Lynn, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Michael L. Foss and sister of the late David, Ernest and Donald Ward. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 12PM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Monday from 10AM-12PM, prior to the funeral.
