Obituary of Mary C. Gallagher


Mary C. Gallagher -->Mary C. (McCarthy) Gallagher of Raynham, formerly of Dorchester, died Nov. 3, 2010, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. Born in Boston, Mary was raised in the Hyde Park section of the city. She graduated from Hyde Park High School and entered the U.S. Coast Guard where she served as a specialist during World War II. After raising her family, Mary returned to work as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph. She was active in their union where she served as an Office Steward. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Francis W. Gallagher, she was the loving mother of Denise M. Silveira and her husband Robert J. of Raynham, William F. Gallagher of Raynham, Robert P. Gallagher and his wife Gail of Norwell, Kathleen M. Welch and her husband Robert of Weymouth, John M. Gallagher and his wife Linda of Cohasset and Patricia E. Furtado of Brockton. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester, Saturday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., Milton, Friday, 4:30-8:30 p.m. Interment Mount Benedict Cemetery. Donations in Marys memory may be sent to Dept. of Mass.
