Obituary of Martha-Jane-Ingram-Gannon Simms

Martha Jane Ingram Gannon Simms November 19, 1952- December 14, 2014 LaGrange, Georgia- Mrs. Martha Jane Ingram Gannon Simms, R.N. of LaGrange, GA passed away December 14, 2014 at Hospice LaGrange. Jane was born November 19, 1952 in Phenix City, AL to the late Herbert and Martha Williams Ingram. She graduated from Hardaway High School and received a Registered Nursing Degree from Columbus College. Her career spanned Muscogee County, Rockdale County Health Department, Troup County Health Department and Fourth District Health. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the Teen Maze Youth Program for Troup and surrounding counties. Jane was actively involved in Midway Methodist Church in Columbus, GA while growing up and later in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Glenn, GA, where the Williams Family has attended and supported for over six generations. Jane was a member and served as Recording Secretary for Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was an avid fan of the University of Georgia and the Master's Golf Tournament. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William "Bill" Gannon; maternal grandparents, H.N. Williams, Sr. and Mary B. "Mae" Williams of Columbus, GA and formerly of Glenn, GA. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Simms; two sons, Joshua (Brittany) Gannon of St. Mary's, GA and Jon Gannon of Atlanta, GA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Betty Gannon of Phenix City, AL; numerous cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Reverend Larry Summerour and Reverend Donny Benefield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, December 19, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery Fund, c/o Carolyn Glover, Chairman, 144 Skyview Dr., Franklin, GA 30217.
