Obituary of Marion-Frances Cox


BRIERE, Marion Frances - 65, Middleton, passed away January 15, 2004, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Brooklyn, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Vera (Carson) Cox. Marion lived in many parts of Canada and also enjoyed some time in Europe where she and her family traveled extensively. Marion was a career hair stylist having last owned a very successful hair salon in Ottawa prior to retiring to Nova Scotia. Marion was an outstanding athlete, excelling in track and field, basketball, volleyball, figure skating, curling and golf. She was a former provincial record holder in track and field. Marion was inducted into the Sports Heritage Wall of Fame, Middleton, in 2000. As a passionate gardener, she was an active member of the Wilmot Garden Club and the Friends of the Riverside Park Committee. Her love of life, sense of adventure, love of sport, the arts, community spirit and unwavering sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Marion is survived by her husband, John; daughter Andree, Toronto, Ont.; son, Roger, Toronto; sisters, Dee Harms, Buffalo, NY; Kaye (Albert) Peppard, Middleton; Anne (Kenneth) Jaques, Middleton; brothers, Leland (Marion), Brooklyn; Frank, Merced, California; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Moody; stepbrother, Rawleigh; stepsister, Naomie Van Zoost. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 18, in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton, Rev.
