Obituary of Margaret Jamieson

JAMIESON, Margaret MabelThe family of Margaret Mabel Jamieson (nee McBride) deeply regrets to announce her passing on March 15, 2013, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Ken Jamieson. She was also predeceased by her sisters Eunice McBride and Hazel Chamberlain, niece Barbara Chamberlain and brothers-in- law Lloyd, Bert and Jack. She is survived by her daughters Lynne (Ches) Wells, Susan (Cam) Fraser, Patti Jamieson (Dwight St. Amand); her grandchildren, Curtis (Mackenzie) Fraser, Brent Fraser, Brian St. Amand, Heidi St. Amand, Matthew (Maggie) Wells, Erin Wells; her great-grandchildren, Reid and Tucker Fraser and Kaitlynn and Jackson Wells, as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Margaret was born November 9, 1915 on her parents farm near Talmage, Saskatchewan. In her early years, the family moved to a farm near Elrose where Margaret took her schooling. After Margaret's father died, the family moved to Michigan for a short time and then to Saskatoon. Margaret trained at Saskatoon Business College and worked at John Deere. During the war years she was active as President of her Sorority and CGIT and enjoyed downhill skiing. Ken and Margaret were married 10 days after he returned from WWII in 1945. After raising their three daughters, she did secretarial work for the University of Saskatchewan. Margaret was an avid crossword puzzle fan and enjoyed writing poetry for special events in the lives of her family and friends, and earning recognition from the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix in a limerick contest. She was very organized at keeping scrapbooks of events throughout her life and they are full of wonderful information and memories for the family. She enjoyed curling, bowling, bridge and their Pike Lake cottage. Margaret had uncommon common sense. She was a great seamstress and was often "inventing" solutions to problems. She would go looking for something in the store and, not finding it, would invent it and then a few years later, there it would be in the stores, invented by someone else! Margaret and Ken went on vacation to many destinations. She was a faithful long-time supporter of live theatre including Persephone and the Saskatoon Symphony. She was an accomplished pianist particularly enjoying accompanying Ken. Throughout her church life at Mayfair, Knox, Westminster and Grace Westminster United she was fully involved in many groups and activities. We are grateful that Mom and Dad were able to stay together at Langham Senior Citizens' Home and would like to thank the fabulous staff for their wonderful care. We were so pleased that the staff also recognized and enjoyed Mom and Dad's daily sense of humour which their children remember and loved. The Funeral Service for Margaret will be held at Grace Westminster United Church (500 10th St. E., Saskatoon) on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road) following the reception.
