Obituary of Margaret Findlay

PEMBROKE -- Margaret E. Findlay, 81, died Feb. 11, 2010, at Concord Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Everett, Mass., July 4, 1928, to Frank and Julia (Shaffer) Lichtenberg. She attended local schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in Wakefield, Mass. She married James W. Findlay Sr. April 23, 1949, and they lived in Lynnfield, Mass., and Catonsville, Md., before moving to Epsom in 1966. She worked for various agencies for the State of New Hampshire before retiring in 1986. She was a longtime and active member of the New Rye Congregational Church in Epsom. She served the church in numerous capacities. She most recently served on the board of deacons. She was an avid quilter and was an active supporter of the Bektash Shriners. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star - Epiphany Chapter No. 50, where she served as a Past Matron. Family members include a son, James W. Findlay Jr. of Meredith; and two daughters, Barbara A. Dombrowsky of Gettysburg, Pa., and Susan J. Wadsworth of Methuen, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, James W. Findlay Sr. IN HER LIFE: Family members also include three grandchildren, Margaret S. Dombrowsky of Pennsylvania, and James W. Findlay III and John R. Findlay, both of Meredith. SERVICES: Visiting hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. The funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Pembroke Congregational Church, 301 Pembroke St., Pembroke. Interment will be held in the spring in McClary Cemetery, Epsom. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bektash Shrine Transportation Fund, 180 Pembroke Road, P.O. Box 4086, Concord 03302-4086; or Friends of Forgotten Children, 224 Bog Road, Concord 03302. The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of arrangements.
