Obituary of Margaret-Stringer Lambert


LAMBERT, Margaret (Meg)Stringer passed away at herhome in Prattville, Alabama,on June 9, 2010. She wasborn in Selma, Alabama onAugust 10, 1941, to John Bryant and Margaret ClarkStringer. She grew up in thecommunity of Pleasant Hill,Alabama. She graduatedfrom Parrish High School inSelma and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree fromAuburn University. Meg married Joseph SmithLambert on June 20, 1975and joined him at LambertConstruction Company inPrattville, Alabama. In 2000,she opened HomeTouchBuilders where she designedand drew plans for both companies. In 1989, she was chosen as builder of the year bythe Greater MontgomeryHome Builders Associationand in 1990, she was namedWoman of the Year by theMontgomery Chapter of theNational Association of Women in Construction. In 1997,she and her husband, Joewere inducted into the Hall ofFame by the GMHBA. She hasserved on the Board of Directors for the GMHBA andserved on the Prattville Planning Commission and Autauga County Heritage Association. Meg served as president ofthe Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association and was the firstpresident of the South DallasHistoric Preservation Association and currently serving onthe Board of Directors. Shehas conducted extensive research in genealogy and local history and authored AHistory of the Pleasant HillBaptist Church, 1840-1990.She is an accomplished artist. Meg and her husband, Joeare current members of Heritage Baptist Church in Prattville. She was predeceasedby her parents and herdaughter, Susan MayoBuchner. Surviving are herhusband, Joseph Smith Lambert; sons, George Bryantand wife, Tina Frazer Buchnerof Tallahassee, Florida andRobert Carson and wife, Kristen Broadway Buchner ofPrattville; brother, John BryantStringer, Jr. and wife, Suzanneof Pleasant Hill. Also survivingare step-sons, Joseph SmithLambert, Jr. and wife, MaryLou of Orange City, Floridaand Robert Maxon Lambertof Montgomery; grandsonsWill, Carson, Jeb and DavidBuchner of Tallahassee andJonathan and Garrett Buchner of Prattville, Joe Lambert IIIand granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah Kate Lambertof Orange City. In addition,she is survived by an uncle,F.L. Clark of Huntsville and anaunt, Louise Clark Carter ofMobile. A service to honor and celebrate Meg's life will be held atthe Pleasant Hill BaptistChurch, Pleasant Hill, Alabama on Saturday, June 12,2010 at 10:00 a.m. centraltime with Rev. George Jones,Sr., Dr. Dave Thomas and Rev.Roger Parks officiating. Burialwill follow in the BaptistCemetery. Visitation will be atthe church one hour prior tothe service.
