Josephine "Josie" Lyles Lowrance SPARTANBURG, SC-- Mrs. Josephine L. Lowrance, 96, of 115 Ray Circle, entered eternal rest on July 21, 2012 at Mary Black Hospital after a short illness. A native of Spartanburg County, she was known by all who knew her as "Josie" and was the wife of the late Mr. Roosevelt Lowrance and the daughter of the late Mr. Frank Lyles and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Gardner. She was a member of Holden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she sang on the Senior Choir, member of the Deaconess Board, and a member of the Sympathy Club. Mrs. Lowrance was given Dedicated and Service award by the Holden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother who served her family faithfully as a homemaker. Mrs. Josie L. Lowrance leaves to cherish fond memories: six daughters, Mrs. Betty (Franklin) Crook, Mrs. Aileen (John) Alexander, Ms. Dollie Lowrance, Ms. Mary Lowrance, Ms. Josephine Riser, all of Spartanburg, SC and Mrs. Viola (John) Brewton of Charlotte, NC; four sons, Mr. Wilbert Lowrance, Mr. Jerry Lowrance, Mr. Steve (Frances) Lowrance all of Spartanburg, SC and Mr. Larry (Ruby) Lowrance of Inman, SC; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mamie Lowrance of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Mrs. Ivory McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Maddie Lyles of Inman, SC, and Mrs. Lillian Gentry of Spartanburg, SC; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
