Josephine A. "Josie" (Scibilia) Childs May 2, 2011 Josephine A. "Josie" (Scibilia) Childs, 91, longtime resident of 120 Laurel Ave. in Liverpool, died Monday at Loretto Nursing Home. Josephine was born in Syracuse and was the daughter of the late Philip and Anna (DePeters) Scibilia. She worked at General Electric also the Easy Washer during World War II in the W.P.A. program. Josie was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Seniors Club and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3146, where she was known as the spaghetti lady. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and loved to go on trips with her senior friends. Josie attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1980 and by their son, Philip, in 1969. Josephine is survived by her daughter: Dawn (Nicholas) Toporzycki of Liverpool; and two grandchildren: Nicole (Matthew) Zampi of Albany and Bryan Toporzycki of Liverpool. Friends may call on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin on Friday, 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral service at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
