GLENVILLE Joseph M. Alexander died August 6, 2004. Born January 26, 1924 in Scranton, Pa. to the late Mary Margalus and Stanley Alexander. He attended Scranton schools and was a graduate of Johnson School, now Johnson College. Joe served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He lived in the Scranton area until 1962 when he moved with his family to Glenville, N.Y. Joe was a tool and die maker and worked at Philco Radio in Philadelphia, Tudor Industries in Scranton, Murray Corporation of America in Scranton, Daystrom Instrument Division of Daystrom, Inc. in Archbald, Pa. and General Electric Co. in Scranton and Schenectady, N.Y., retiring in 1984 as unit manager in the large steam turbine department. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed skiing, white water canoeing, camping and traveling throughout the United States in his RV. He was also a skilled stained glass artisan, creating beautiful lamps and other stained glass articles. Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Alexander; three sons, Joseph M. Alexander Jr. and Valerie of Clifton Park, N.Y., John S. Alexander and Deborah of Burnt Hills, N.Y. and Michael J. Alexander and Sandi of Charlton, N.Y. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Rebecca Alexander Wadsworth of Rexford, N.Y., Sarah and Kathleen Alexander of Glenville, Michael Alexander of Burnt Hills and Steven Alexander of Charlton; two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Grayce Wadsworth of Rexford; three step-grandsons, Ryan McCormick, Douglas Hudson and David Hudson, all of Burnt Hills; and a brother-in-law, Frank Krasovec of Philadelphia, Pa.; and several cousins. Joe was predeceased by his sister, Mary Alexander Krasovec. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Glenville. Services 9:15 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Calling hours Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Donations may be made to Parkinson's Research in care of Stewart S. Factor, D.O., 215 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY in memory of Joe who suffered from the disease for 20 years.
