ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mr. Jon George Lindsey, 72, of Rock Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center. A native of El Paso, Ill., Jon was the son of the late George Chapman and Juanita Bernice (Nohren) Lindsey. He was a member of Adnah United Methodist Church. He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Meredith. A 33rd Degree Mason, Jon was Past Master of Corinthian Lodge #416 A.F.M. He was a member of the Rock Hill Valley and Columbia Consistory of Scottish Rite Masons, a member of Mackey Chapter #15 R.A.M, Absolom Cody Council #8 R.&S.M., and Rock Hill Commandery #15 K.T. of York Rite Bodies, the J.D. Penley, Jr. Council #131 of Allied Masonic Bodies, and Hejaz Shrine Temple. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the N.R.A. Surviving are his wife, Karen Bruce Lindsey; his son, Robert Chapman Lindsey of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Dorothy Bernice Panichelli and husband, Joseph, of Sicklerville, N.J., and Nancy Ellen Lindsey of N. Springfield, Vt.; his brother, Donald Lindsey and wife, Kathy, of New Carlisle, Ind.; four sisters, Peggy Miller and husband, Myron, of Carlock, Ill., Mary Fuller and husband, Danny, of Secor, Ill., Jennifer Lindsey and Barbara Campbell and husband, Richard, all of El Paso; four grandchildren, Nicholas Panichelli, Marlena Panichelli, Jordan McCarson and Ryan McCarson. In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Sue Lindsey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to E.C. ("Cliff") Singleton Rite Care Center, P.O. Box 9571, 7230 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Services will be held at a later date. Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 is serving the Lindsey family.
