John Thomas Patrick O'Meara October 11, 1935 - January 30, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Valley View Funeral Home (Surrey) O’Meara, John Thomas Patrick October 11, 1935 - January 30, 2005 With great sadness we announce the passing of John Thomas Patrick O’Meara of Surrey BC, formerly of Richmond, BC & Burbank, California. John passed away peacefully on January 30, 2005 in Langley Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his sister Patsy, his first wife and mother of his children Frances (nee: Baumeister) in 1986, and his lifelong best friend Armand Deaust. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Joan, his three daughters Lauren Colleen (& David) O’Meara, Kerry O’Meara, & Kimberley (& Tim) Tokrud, his 5 grand children Austin and Brianna Tokrud, Ema-Lee, Abby, and Evan Rothwell, and Joan’s two sons Steve (& Erin) Rothwell and Paul (& Corinne) Rothwell. John is also survived by his mother-in-law Katherine Wheeler, his dear brother Gerry (Venita), nephew David, and many friends, neighbors, and family, all of whom where an important part of his life. John enjoyed a career of more than 40 years as a professional driver. He retired after 20yrs of service with BC Transit in 1995. Prior to that he worked for 10 happy years in Southern California driving for Jersey Maid Dairy, with the early years being spent at Old Dutch and 7-up Beverage companies. For the past 5 years John has proudly served as a volunteer Motorman for the Downtown Historic Railway and as Treasurer for the Strata Council where he & Joan reside. John and Joan were married on June 15, 1996 and they have shared the past nine years traveling, spending time with family and friends, and building a wonderful life together. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday February 3, 2005. at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 72nd Ave, Surrey, BC - Phone 604.596.8866. Reception to follow on site. A memorial contribution made to an organization that strengthens the fabric of your community would be greatly appreciated by the family. Two organizations that John supported were Union Gospel Mission & Covenant House. “What is remembered lives on”.
