Obituary of John-J. Hennessey


->John J. Hennessey, of Bridgewater, formerly of Randolph, passed away Dec. 19, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Brockton, at the age of 89. Born in Boston, John graduated from So. Boston High School. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, where he received many medals and citations, including the Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. John then had a 37-year career as a supervisor for the Electronic System Division at Hanscom Field in Bedford, working as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1978. In his spare time, John was active in his community, coaching North Randolph Little League and the Kelleher Club for the North Randolph Pop Warner Football, where he was the equipment manager for many years. John was also a member of the DAV Chapter 39, American Legion Post 462 and NARFE (National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees). John was the husband of the late Mary (Tobin) Hennessey; loving father of Noreen Curcio and her husband Robert of N.J., Nancy Murray and her husband Joseph of Norwell, John J. Hennessey Jr. and his wife Patricia of Bridgewater, Thomas Hennessey and his wife Susan of Raynham and Timothy Hennessey and his wife Susan of Raynham; brother of the late Joseph Hennessey. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, until 8:15 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 810 Vermont Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20420.
