Obituary of Jeanne-Marie Rice

ObituaryJEANNE MARIE RICESPENCER - Jeanne Marie Rice, age 76, went peacefully home to her Heavenly Father, Saturday, October 21, 2006, after a long fight with COPD. Jeanne was born in Halseyvalley on April 25th, 1930 to Arthur Whitmarsh and Ella Mae Hollenbeck-Whitmarsh. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Rice in 1986; and a son, Arthur Stephen Rice in 1999.Jeanne's family and friends were her life. She is survived by her children, Diane (Bruce) Strong, Jinnie (Bob) June, Gerald (Daphane) Rice, Dottie Rice; nine grandchildren, Shane and Chad Gallagher, Kimberly (Ken) Meddaugh, Danielle Dean, Joshua Rice, Lyndsey (Jerjuan) Mallory, Jeanne, Abra and Stephenie Rice. She adored all 11 great-grandchildren, and looked forward to her Friday pizza nights with Jaquela. Jeanne, the baby of six, was predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Hautala, and Dot Webster; and a brother, Charles Whitmarsh. She is survived by her sisters, Vera Fenimore, Waverly, and Elizabeth "Betty" Williams, Arizona.Jeanne retired from the ETV Center at Cornell after 23 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She will be missed immensely for her wonderful sense of humor and optimism.A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 25th, 2006, at the Allen-Manzer Funeral Home, 56 North Main St., Spencer. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to The Diabetes Association or Lung Association.
