Obituary of James-Francis McLeod

He was born November 28, 1946, in Hibbing, MN, to the Rev. Robert O. and Edythe G. (Brooks) McLeod. Jim graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and went on to earn his J.D. at Washburn University of Topeka, with honors. Jim married Janice Dalgleish in Lincoln, NE, on February 1, 1969, and to this union four children were born. While raising their family in Springfield, Jim practiced law at Miller & Sanford later merging with Lathrop & Gage. He received the Bell Volunteer Award, American Red Cross Clara Barton Honor, and was selected for MO/KS Super Lawyers, '12 and '13. Jim was a member of The Missouri Bar, Springfield Metropolitan Bar, Greene County Estate Planning Council (Past President), Leadership Missouri Alumni, and served on Boards of Springfield Catholic Schools, Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Regional Girls Shelter, and Legal Aid of Southwest Missouri. He was active in Springfield Southeast Rotary (Past District Governor) and enjoyed cooking each year at Rotary's Rock N' Ribs. Jim's hobbies included fly fishing, cowboy shooting, model railroading, and floating. He treasured his family and particularly enjoyed spending time with them at their cabin. Jim was a kind, patient man. He was loved and respected by his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws, Pat and John Dalgleish. He is survived by his wife Janice; daughters, Carol McLeod (partner Ruby Bravebear), Tulsa, OK, Erin (Robert) Fulton, Folsom, CA, Susan McLeod (partner Ashleigh Lewellen), Nixa, MO, and son, John McLeod (fianc&#233; Samantha Simmons), Crestwood, MO; grandchildren, Isaac and Paige Fulton; sisters, Joye McLeod (husband James Wood), Springfield, NE, Kathryn (Gregory) Ohlsen, Utica, NE, and Ruth (Charles) Lucas, Colleyville, TX.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2014. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Boys Ranch or The Kitchen.
