LCdr (Ret'd) Herbert Thomas Addison, 74, Sidney, BC, peacefully at home 6 August 2002 after a life of love, caring and devotion to his friend for life and wife of 53 years, Gloria (nee Hunt). Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and May Addison of Long Branch, and Orr Lake, Ontario, he leaves daughter Janette (Bob Leitch, Ottawa), son Tim (Susan Addison, Ottawa), grandsons James and Cameron Leitch and Tim J. Addison, sisters Pat Harper (Victoria), her children and Betty Addison (Orr Lake, Ontario). Born in Toronto 21 April 1928, Herb joined the RCN at 18, did Midshipman's training with the RN, commissioned and served in Korea in 1951 in HMCS HURON. Also served in QUEBEC, ONTARIO, BONAVENTURE, NEW GLASGOW and JONQUIERE and ashore at STADACONA, NADEN and ROYAL ROADS. In 1966 Herb switched to Intel, served in Defence HQ in Foreign Liaison and at SACLANT in Norfolk Va. He retired from the RCN/CF in 1975 as Senior Staff Officer Intelligence at Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters in Esquimalt, BC. Herb worked at Canada Trust as tax specialist and securities trader 75-85, was on Sidney Town Council 86-90 and chaired the Saanich Water Board in 1991. An avid golfer, at age 65 his final career was as a professional caddy on the Canadian Golf Tour. Honored with life membership in the Royal Canadian Legion, member of the NOAVI and past member of RUSI, Herb will be fondly remembered by his family and friends, naval brethern, business associates and his golf buddies.
