ABEL Helen Louise Helen Louise Abel (nee Clancy) formerly of 1450 Duchess Ave., West Vancouver passed from this life to her heavenly reward Thursday night, February 5, 2009 at Lynn Valley Care Centre. Helen's 98 years were filled with life and love of family and friends. She was born in Toronto, helped her mother raise six children in difficult times. She married her childhood sweetheart, Frank Abel who predeceased her in 1996. Helen and Frank moved from Toronto when Frank was transferred by his company to the Vancouver area and lived in Burnaby. During the 1940s they purchased a piece of land on Southborough Drive in the newly developed British Properties. Here they built a house that became a loving home. Helen always loved company and stimulating conversation. In 1979 they decided that, while they loved their British Properties home it was time to change lifestyles so they moved into a condo on Duchess Ave., in Ambleside. Here they enjoyed the company of the other residents. After Frank passed away in 1996, Helen remained in her home until 2002 when she entered Lynn Valley Care Centre. A mass of Thanksgiving will be offered on Wednesday, February 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the Redeemer Church; 595 Keith Rd., West Vancouver. A special Thank you to Dr. M. Conly and all the staff in the lodge at Lynn Valley Care Centre whose dedication and kindness made Helen's final years happy and peaceful.
