Obituary of George-Thomas Owens

George Thomas Owens George Thomas Owens, 91, formerly of Dublin, OH died peacefully Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Atlantic Health Care of Vero Beach. Mr. Owens, the son of Christopher and Mary Clark O'Neil, was born January 1, 1915 in Chicago, IL and spent his youth in Chicago and Lake Geneva, WI. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Hyde. Mr. Owens had worked for White Castle Systems from 1937 until 1977, when he retired as Director of Personnel. Mr. Owens was an avid golfer and founding member of the Worthington Hills Country Club in Worthington, OH. He was a Past President of the Dublin Kiwanis Club, a member of the Columbus Ohio Masonic Lodge and the Aladdin Shrine Temple where he was a 33rd Degree Mason. Survivors include his son, Tom (Kimberly Brewster) Owens of Dublin, OH; grandson, Christopher (Mary) Owens of Dallas, TX and their children, Ella and Ivy Owens; granddaughter, Jennifer (Benjamin) Lawrence of London, England; niece, Beatrice (Don) Evans of Vero Beach and their family; cousin, Frank (Kathy) Owens of Turtle Lake, WI. He was predeceased by his wife, Fran Owens in 1999. The family extends a special acknowledgmen t to Gwendolyn "Taffy" Slater who was his caregiver and a dear friend of the family. A memorial service will take place 11 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
