Obituary of Frank Mayo

FRANK MAYO 1949 - 2010 Frank Mayo, age 60, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 in Pensacola, Florida. He was born July 25, 1949 in Moss Point, Mississippi, to Benjamin and Bessie Mayo. He was a graduate of City College of New York and in 1982 he became employed as a correctional officer with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and attained the position of Lieutenant. Upon his retirement in 2004 he was awarded the position of Detention Captain for loyal and dedicated service to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. Survivors include his loving wife, Josephine Mayo; her two children, Christal Newton-Taplin (Marcus) and John F. Newton, III; his aunt, Mary Bell; cousins, Sharon Bell (Preston), Karen Francois, and Courtney Francois of San Francisco, CA; his nephew, James Washington of Baltimore, MD; his three God children, Jason Welch of Montgomery, AL, Brianna and Corey Broughton of Pensacola, FL. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 2pm to 3pm at Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel. Services will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 at 10 am at Bethel AME Church. Internment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
