Obituary of Frances-Croasdale Maack


Frances Croasdale Maack of Woodstown passed away on March 7 in her home after a brief illness. Born in Trenton to Francis and Helen Croasdale, she grew up in Ventnor, graduating from Atlantic City High School, Goucher College then earning a masters degree in medical social work from Simmons College. While working in Philadelphia she met and married Walter F.W. Maack and they eventually moved to Woodstown. A staunch Democrat who practiced what she preached, she would offer free swimming lessons Tuesdays to children unable to use the municipal pool. She substitute taught in numerous area schools. Her hobbies included bridge, gardening, reading and painting. She delighted in traveling to foreign lands. She was a long-time volunteer at the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Library, Salem Hospital and the Woodstown Presbyterian Church She devoted much of her life to her family & is predeceased by her parents, her husband (a former Woodstown mayor), and brothers Charles Croasdale and Richard Croasdale. She is survived by her children, Walter (Bretta) of Healdsburg, CA, Catherine (Daniel) Heneghan of Ventnor, and Charles (Nancy) of Trenton, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, her sister, Patricia Thomas, a cousin, and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make any donations in her memory to the Woodstown Presbyterian Church or the Woodstown-Pilesgrove Library.
