BARNES, Emma Mae Ivadelle (nee White) Ivadelle, formerly of Carnduff, SK peacefully went to rest in the arms of her Savior on April 16, 2010 at William Booth Care Home in Regina. She was born on December 11, 1921 to Bert and Eva White. She received her early schooling in Kipling and finished high school in Carnduff. After working in Winnipeg and Ottawa she returned to Carnduff and in 1944 married her sweetheart Gordon Barnes. Together they purchased the Gazette Post-News in Carnduff and worked side by side until Gordon's sudden passing in 1966. She owned and operated the paper until 1978 when she sold it to her son Ric. She continued working at the Gazette office until 1982 when she retired. Ivadelle was a pioneer in the weekly newspaper business as she was one of the first papers in the province to switch from letterpress to offset printing. She spent many allnighters at the beginning, but with a little help never once missed getting the paper to bed on time. Music was a big part of her life. She was choir director and played piano and organ for many music festivals, weddings and funerals at St. Andrews United Church. She also taught many children to play the piano. She had many other interests with golf being one of her favorites. A hole-in-one on #6 at the Carnduff Golf Club was the highlight of her career. Following her retirement she was actively involved in Home Care as well as providing loving care for her parents and Mother Barnes. She enjoyed travelling and visited the Orient, Europe, Hawaii, Maritimes, New York and Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon; parents Bert and Eva White; father-in-law and mother-in-law Andrew and Ethel Barnes; brother-in-law Harvey Barnes and his wife Julie, and brother-in-law Walter Barnes. She is survived by son Ric (Bev) and their children Derek (Shannon), Jillian and Ryan (Kerri); daughter Wendy (Ron) and their children Afton (Cam) and Trista; and daughter Sherri (Gary) and son Chase along with great grandchildren Lance, Spencer and Ethan Barnes. She is also lovingly survived by sister-in-law Margaret Barnes as well as her nephew and nieces Marge, Marie, Lynn, Randy and Nancy. A May graveside service in Carnduff is planned. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Ivadelle to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301, 2550 12 Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. Family and friends are invited to sign the online book of condolences at www.regina-memorial.ca . Arrangements entrusted to
