ALBERT, Elizabeth (Betty) Murphy Betty died peacefully in the wee hours of the morning on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Villa Marconi Nursing Home. Betty was born February 26, 1920 in the Townhead, Glasgow, Scotland, to Alice and Henry Murphy. Betty grew up in Haghill, Glasgow. As a war bride Betty arrived in Ottawa in the dead of winter having married her Canadian soldier Marcel Albert in April, 1944. Her life changed dramatically and she embraced her new Canadian future. Predeceased by her parents and her husband Marcel, her brothers and sisters Edward of Ottawa, and Charles, Etta, Mary (Hanley), and Cathy of Glasgow, Scotland. She is survived by her brothers George and Henry and sister Alice (Kyle) of Glasgow. She will be sadly missed by her seven children: Roger (Sandy), Alice of Victoria, B.C., Lorraine, Henry (Bernice), Cathleen (Kevin), Elizabeth and John. Her grandchildren gave her great comfort and joy. She leaves behind grandchildren Daniel, Kevin and Tammy Albert; James Craighead; Lorie and Jamie Robertson; Paula McNaught and Scott Albert; Chris and Ryan Doyle; Heather Jacobs LeClair, Tabitha Shade and Nicole Albert, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Scotland and England. Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 6 PM to 9 PM, followed by a service Saturday January 9, at 10 a.m. in the Pincrest Remembrance Chapel.
