ObituaryDouglas 'Skeeter' Thompson age 74 of Immokalee passed away March 24, 2004, at LaBelle. 'Skeeter' was born June 23, 1929, at Clewiston to the late Douglas and Hazel Thompson. He grew up in Ft. Myers and was raised by his grandparents, the late Solon Crews and Josephine Crews. He worked for 17 years with the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission. He retired after 15 years as a rancher with A. Duda & Sons. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at LaBelle. Survivors include his companion, Betty Joyce Hendry of Immokalee; sons, Doug Thompson (Kandi), of Rancho Cordova, CA, and Lane Thompson, Sanford; daughters, Denise Williams (Larry), LaBelle, Danna Crawley (Jamie), Chandler, AZ; stepchildren, JoAnn Gray, Naples, Emory Duren (Barbara), Naples; a brother, Patrick Thompson, Colonial Heights, VA; sisters, Phyliss Mira, Gail Thompson and Patricia Sadilek, Tampa and Ruth Morgan, Newberry, Mary Pearl Lux, Carroll, IA; one grandchild and 3 step-grandchildren. Visiting is (TODAY) Monday, March 29, 2004, between 6 - 8 PM at the Akins-Davis Funeral Home Chapel in LaBelle. Funeral Services will be 10 AM, Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Funeral Home Chapel in LaBelle with Rev. James Caves officiating. Burial will follow on the Crews family plot at the Ft. Denaud Cemetery. It was Skeeter's request that friends not wear suits or ties to his funeral.
