Dottie Miller, 72, of Parker, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at a local hospital. She grew up in Lakeland, Fla., and had lived in Bay County since 1974. Dottie was a life member of VFW Post 8205, where she served as president of the women's auxiliary and was a member of the Honor Degree. She volunteered for veteran's organizations and the Tyndall AFB pharmacy, and visited the VA hospital in Lake City for more than 10 years. Dottie was a loving mother and never met a person she didn't like. She always lit up a room when she walked in, lived to help others and enjoyed the military life for many years. Survivors include her husband, Fred A. Miller, of Parker; her daughters, Dawn Weber Olivo (Marciano) of Berthoud, Colo., and Dana Weber Zelenik (William) of Franklin, Tenn.; her stepsons, Richard Miller (Diane) of Newport News, Va., and Fred Miller, Jr., of Dallas, Texas; her brother, Richard Nail of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Cassidy, Kerri, Mathew, Conner, Meghan, Cheri, Chantal, Spencer and Melissa; and numerous nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Hankins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dottie's name may be made to the Chester A. Sims VA Nursing Home.
