Obituary of Doris-E. Laporte

Doris E. LaPorte, 88, died at the Farmington Care Center, CT November 7. She was born in Derby, CT, daughter or William and Alfreda Baker, both deceased. She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph LaPorte, a well known jazz musician from Westchester County, NY. She served in the US AirForce during WWII then transferred to ground forces to help with the medical processing of men returning from the European Theater. After the war she returned with her husband to Mt. Vernon, NY where she lived for 35 years. Following her husband's death she moved to Valley Cottage, NY. She also lived in Brevard County, Fl before coming to Ct for the last 5 years. She loved art, medicine, music & all animals, especially poodles. Doris was a member of the Women Vets of Barefoot Bay & the American Legion She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine LaPorte Bogin and several cousins, nieces & nephews. Memorial services will be private & held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury & Internment will be at the convenience of the family.
