Obituary of Charles Mallard


Mr. Charles Warren Mallard - BROOKLET - Mr. Charles Warren Mallard, age 83, died Friday at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Girard, Georgia native was a 1948 graduate of Girard High School. Following his graduation, Warren attended Berry College and soon joined the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge from the navy, Warren returned to school, attending the University of Georgia where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry. Warren began a marketing career in the chemical industry beginning with Southeastern Liquid Fertilizer Company, which eventually became Kaiser Chemical Company. He retired from Kaiser Chemical in 1987, following many years of service. He and his wife returned to Bulloch County in 1987 and made Brooklet their home. He continued to work for many years at home with his furniture refinishing business. Mr. Mallard was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church where he had served in many capacities throughout the years. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Edna Heath Mallard of Brooklet; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rene' M. and Stephen Keene of Cary, NC and Ginny M. Macaluso of Princeton, NJ; a son, Charles Warren Mallard, Jr. of Brooklet; three grandchildren, Beth Anne Macaluso, John Macaluso and Sam Macaluso; three sisters, Eunice M. Smith of Waynesboro, Kathryn M. Hunter of Savannah and Ollie M. Scoggins of Summerville and a brother Douglas Mallard of Girard. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00pm until 3:00pm in the fellowship hall of the Brooklet United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be at 3:00pm at Brooklet United Methodist Church with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459 or the Brooklet United Methodist Church 201 North Parker Ave., Brooklet, Ga. 30415. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
