Obituary of Charles-G. Lamothe

Charles G. LaMothe August 14, 1927 - May 18, 2008 GROTON - Charles G. LaMothe Sr 80, of Sutton Pl. Groton, CT passed away Sunday May 18, 2008 peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Fairview Odd Fellows Nursing Home of Connecticut. Charlie was born in Norwich, CT on Aug. 14,1927 to the late George and Delia (Langlois) Lamothe. He married his devoted wife of 58 years, Jeannine St. George in Taftville on Sept. 5, 1949. She survives him. He was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Groton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Groton Lodge of Elks . Charlie was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was retired from Bricklayer's Union, Local # 1 and General Dynamics Electric Boat. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Charlie loved spending his summers in retirement at Eastern Point Beach and his winters vacationing in St. Martin. He was an avid Sox fan and was blessed on 04' and 07'. Charlie is also survived by his children Charlene Lassinger and her husband Gary of Groton, sons George of Garnerville, NY, Charles Jr. of Old Lyme and Robert of Groton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeannine Maiolo and her husband Danny of Groton, Gary Lassinger and his wife Tammy of Groton, Laura Ellal and her husband Donny of Groton, Katherine Blevin and her husband Jeff of Virginia Beach, VA, Emily Lamothe of Old Lyme &amp Tyler Lamothe of Pawcatuck and 5 great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by brothers Alexander, Wilfred, Arthur, Ernest and sisters Rachel and Sr. George Marie (Leona). Calling hours will be on Friday May 23 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fulton-Theroux Funeral home in New London. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24 at Sacred Heart Church in Groton at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank the staff's of Pendleton and Fairview Nursing homes for the wonderful care they administered to our Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton, CT 06340.
