St. GERMAIN, Annette January 14, 1932 - February 5, 2010Annette St.Germain (nee Zaporozan) passed away peacefully in the Peach Arch Hospice, White Rock, B.C. at 10:06 p.m. on February 5th, 2010 with her son, Randall and friend Misa by her side. Her favourite song, Jason Castro's version of Hallelujah, played during the moments preceding and following her passing. She is survived by children Randall and Melanie, sisters Stella and Pauline and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Marion and Dorothy and brothers Bill and Peter. Annette was born in Kilkenny, MB on January 14th, 1932. She grew up on the nearby family farm before moving to Winnipeg in her late teens. After spending a few years in Winnipeg, she joined her sister Marion in Vancouver and worked at Pacific Veneer before getting married and having children. For the past 42 years, she made her home in Surrey. Annette was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and always enjoyed a good perogy dinner. She believed strongly in environmental, human rights and healthcare issues and was very kind, caring and compassionate to those in her life. She loved nature and flowers. Annette had a great sense of humour that lasted through her toughest days. She was a devoted fan of the TV shows Two and a Half Men, The Daily Show and the Colbert Report. The late actor, Marlon Brando was her favourite. Annette loved shopping and was very grateful for her mobility and good health prior to becoming ill. At the age of 77, she was able to walk further and faster than many people years younger. She loved being in her home and stayed there until she could no more. She faced her illness and considerable pain with great courage. Her son would like to thank those who helped keep the constant vigil during Annette's last days including her sister Stella, nieces Laurel and Jennifer, nephew Warren and friends Misa, Nicolas and Jean. Her son would also like to thank all the staff at the Peace Arch Hospice for their care and compassion during her brief stay there. At Annette's request, there will be a private service at a date to be determined in Fisher Branch, MB with a portion of her ashes being spread at the tranquil pond on the family farm where she would spend much of her little free time while growing up. Another portion will be spread in the meadows of Mount Outram on the edge of Manning Park, B.C. and at Bridal Falls, B.C. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to World Vision Canada or someone else in need. Everyone is welcome to visit Legacy.com where there will be a guest book. Forever in our hearts and minds, may she rest in peace.
