Obituary of Ann Ur


Mary Ann Major Ur, age 78, formerly of West Union, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Brighton Gardens in Greenville.Born on April 17, 1926, in Greenwood, she was a retired schoolteacher and had taught math at Walhalla High School for many years. She held a master's degree in education and enjoyed sewing. She was of the Methodist faith.Survivors include a son, Alexander "Skip" Ur III, of California; a brother, retired Maj. Gen. Jack Major, MD, of Arizona; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Her parents, Clarence Allen and Annette Long Major; and a brother, Clarence Major; precede her in death.Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Ramsey Creek Preserve in Westminster, with the Rev. John Compton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the meadow at Ramsey Creek. The family is at the home of the granddaughter: Michelle Huskamp, 105 Stone Creek Road, Greer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local chapter of Meals on Wheels, c/o Senior Solutions, 101 Perry Ave., Seneca, SC 29678; or to Meals on Wheels of Greenville/Greenwood, 15 Oregon St., Greenville, SC 29605.
