Obituary of Ann King


Ann Sweetland King, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at her home in Huntcliff Summit. Ann was the daughter of Pauline and Frances Sweetland, and attended Athens High School and the University of Georgia. She was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for 28 years; while living at Lake Oconee, she was a member of Walker United Methodist, and while in St. Simons, she was a member of St. Simons United Methodist.Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Hillyer King; her oldest son, David H. King Sr.; and her youngest son, Douglas S. King. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Stewart and Dan. She was the grandmother of Tim and Erin Stewart, Chris and Leah Stewart, Amanda Stewart, Megan and David King Jr., Cameron King; and great-grandmother of Jackson Stewart and David King III.Steve Huntley, of Peachtree Presbyterian Church, will officiate over a memorial service at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 26, at Roswell Funeral Home, on Mansell Road. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place on a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery, in Canton.Although Ann will be missed by all of her family and many friends, it was her wish that we not mourn her passing, but gather together for a celebration of her life. All who knew and loved Ann are invited to attend.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Canine Assistance, 3166 Francis Rd., Alpharetta, GA 30004; or to Crossroads Hospice, 1957 Lakeside Pkwy. #500, Tucker, GA 30084.Roswell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
