LEWISTON - Andre A. "Andy" Chabot, 72, of Autumn Lane in Lewiston, died early Friday morning April 15th at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side.He was born in Auburn, June 16, 1932, a son of Leo and Hilda (Ouellette) Chabot. He attended elementary school in Auburn, graduated from St. Charles Seminary in Sherbrooke, P.Q., Canada, and St. Anselm's College in Manchester, N.H.He was a veteran of the military, having served in the army from 1955 to 1957, and upon leaving the service, returned to Lewiston-Auburn and remained a lifelong resident.For many years he owned and operated Chabot & Hachey Dry Cleaners in Auburn. He later worked for the city of Lewiston serving as program coordinator for the Lewiston Senior Citizens for 15 years until his retirement in July of 1997.He was a member of American Legion Post 153, was a former Chaplain of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a member of both the Sabattus and Lewiston Senior Citizens.Among his favorite enjoyments in his free time were traveling, golf and dancing, prior to his illness, and visiting with his many friends.He leaves his wife, the former Carol Blood, whom he married on Aug. 1, 1997 of Lewiston; three daughters, Marie Fletcher and husband, Clayton, of Birchrunville, Pa., Joline Betsch and husband, James, of Auburn, and Lisa Allen and husband, Christopher, of Spangdahlem, A.F.B., Germany; a son, Paul Chabot and wife, Barbara, of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew Betsch, Jessica and Bradford Chabot, Andrew and Daniel Fletcher and Nicole Allen; a step-daughter, Susan Brown of Auburn; two step-grandchildren, Christopher Lambert and Brendan McClellan; a sister-in-law, Cecile Chabot of Oxford; and three brothers-in-law, Clayton Blood and wife, Barbara, of Searsport, Roy Blood of Winslow, and Stanley Blood and wife, Edna, of Belfast.He was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Chabot, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Blood.Rest peacefully, Andy, with the love of all who knew you.
