Obituary of Alma-Elizabeth-Graham Christie

Alma Elizabeth Graham Christie LINWOOD, NC-- Alma Elizabeth Graham Christie, 97, of Linwood, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born November 17, 1911 in Rowan County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Mary Belle Carscaddon Graham and James Espie "Bud" Graham. Mrs. Christie was a life member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, a seamstress and homemaker. Preceding her in death was her husband, James "Jim" Grady Christie in 1991; sons, Tommy Ray Christie in 1995, Jimmy J. "Duke" Christie in 2006, James Espie Christie, who died shortly after birth; brother, James Graham; sister, Helen Safrit; and grandchildren, Douglas Grady Christie, Ralph E. Christie, Jr. and Ted W. Doby, Jr. Survivors include Ralph Christie (Peggy), James "Bob" Christie (Susie), Wayne Christie (Diane), all of Salisbury, Bill Christie (Pat) of Florida, Jack Christie (Dee) and Jerry Christie (Debbie), all of Salisbury, NC; daughters, Mary Alice Carroll of Spartanburg, SC and Emily Doby of Linwood; brother, William Glenn Graham (Betty); sisters, Azlie Bogle (Roy), Margie Bogle (Ed) and Edith Cranfield, all of Salisbury. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Lyerly Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Frederick Clarkson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
