MACK, VERONICA (VERA) AGNESVeronica (Vera) Agnes Mack, a resident of Mount Vernon for most of her life, passed away on December 22, 2004. She recently resided at the Frances Schervier Nursing Home in the Bronx. Mrs. Mack was born on August 1, 1916 in Mount Vernon to Jacob and Agnes Murtha Schorpp. She attended local schools in Mount Vernon and the Bronx. On September 1, 1939, she married Edward James Mack. Mrs. Mack worked for many years as a bookkeeper for various companies and organizations such as the Franciscan Missions and the Hobe Jewelers of Mount Vernon. The Mack's were very active in the American Legion and did a lot of volunteer work, including the Veteran's Hospital in Montrose. They made many a "poppy" for Memorial Day and Veronica made cancer pads for the ill at Rosary Hill Nursing Home in Hawthorne. Edward Mack predeceased his wife in September of 1997. Mrs. Mack is survived by her three children: Patricia Mahoney of Las Vegas, NV; Edward Mack of Garnerville, NY, and Joseph Mack of Mount Vernon, NY. She is also survived by her four grandsons: Michael Mahoney of Las Vegas, NV; Brian Mack of Concord, NC; Christopher and Jared Mack of Garnerville, NY. Also surviving is her great-granddaughter, Samantha Mack of Concord, NC. Her sister, Alice Shannon, predeceased her. Friends may visit the funeral home on Monday between 9 and 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday at St. Ursula's Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
