ROBERT WILLIAM ALEXANDER (SANDY) COCHRAN Died peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 surrounded by his family, in Burlington. He was 82 years old. He is survived by his wife Janet, daughters Cate and Anne and grandchildren Jacob and Madeline. His beloved son, John Alexander, passed away in 1989. Sandy was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and always had a deep love for, and enduring commitment to, his family. Though shy, he had a welcoming embrace and a devilish sense of humour. He had a quiet persistence, which made him a skilled negotiator and political lobbyist and a knack for finding consensus among even the most strong-willed and diverse interests. But he was, above all, gentle and soft-hearted. Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 12 noon until the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Please join us to honour Sandy's life. Sandy requested that donations be made to Tong-Len Hostel and charitable trust to provide education for children living in slums in Dharamsala, India.
