Robert Seawright Drake, 90, resident of 280 Drake Road, widower of Irene Hawthorne Drake, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at his home.Born in Donalds, S.C., he was a son of the late John Andrew and Louise Devore Drake.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired railroad conductor with Reigel Textiles. He was also a retired cattle farmer. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was also a member of the Boonesborough Historical Society of Donalds, S.C. He was a member and elder emeritus of Greenville Presbyterian Church.Survivors are: A son, Barney, and daughter-in-law, Karen Drake, Seneca; a daughter, Susan, and son-in-law, Rondy Shirley, Donalds; a sister, Eva Lee Drake, Donalds; and three grandchildren, P.J. Shirley, Julia Drake and John Drake.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. from Greenville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Brooks officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville, S.C., where the family will receive friends from 6 til 8 p.m. today. The family is at the home, 280 Drake Road, Donalds, S.C.Active pallbearers will be Sue Seawright, Bee Bee Vaughn, Becky McAbee, Patsy McDonnell and JoAnn McAlister.Memorials may be made to Greenville Presbyterian Church, 205 Greenville Church Road, Donalds, S.C., or to Boonesborugh Historical Society, Donalds, S.C.The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville, S.C., is in charge.
