PETERS, Richard D., AKA: Popee, Rick, Rich, and Captain Rick; born in Chic-ago on October 11, 1937; passed away peacefully August 16, 2014, at home, with his beloved wife, Judith by his side. Rich and Judy were high school sweethearts, married for 57 years! They did everything together including growing up together. The families knew each other even when Rich and Judy were children. They were stuck together like glue! Richard had three children, Michael, David, and Lisa Beth. He was also a very PROUD Popee of 5 grand-children, Samantha, Jessica, Rachel, Missy, and Ricky. Popee was very fortunate to play regularly with Samantha and Jessica as he and Judy babysat, and traveled with the girls. They were the light of his life! He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sandi Riegler, her husband, Ken, and two nephews, Dan and Andrew. Richard was a wonderful man who was filled with intellence, wisdom, pat-ience, and kindness. He was a real gentleman who carried a positive attitude wherever he went. He was so optimistic about life, stating "you have to plant positive thoughts in your mind because the weeds (negative) will grow automatically!" Positive thinking was his motto! Richard was a businessman and was well-traveled, touching the hearts of many across the country. Richard may have been an only child, but he did have a few "Bro's" he thought a lot of: Robert Grey, Frank Beresh, James Tuttle, Ray Staniatis, John Gaver and Ken Britton. Special Thanks to the "Carrollwood gang" for all their love and sup-port! You guys are the best! Special thanks to Darwin, from the Cultural Centre, who brought Richard the gift of art! Richard was always creative by gardening, making airplane models, or some household project, but it was Darwin who brought the true artist out in Richard by teaching him how to draw portraits, which Richard drew of all his girls before his death. Thank you Darwin! A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In leiu of flowers donations may be contributed to the Autism society, in honor of Richard's granddaughter Melissa "Missy" Peters.
